Psalm 43:3

"O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling."

Beth Moore, A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place

"Every piece of information we need to know about God is contained in this one small book [God's Word]" (166).

"Because I am His child, all that is behind me must be worked toward good, even when I have failed.... Every day I spend with Him, I am lifted out of insignificance to ascend and take my place in God's high calling in Christ Jesus" (168).

Beth Moore, A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place

"The veil... protected God's dwelling place but also protected the people yet unprepared to stand in His presence.... Humanity had to meet with God by going up [Moses up Mt. Sinai] because God had not yet met with humanity by coming down" (162).

"the effects of God's glory in the life on one He invites to approach

"1. A change took place.... we can never partake of God's glory without His presence evoking a change in us. Sometimes I believe this is exactly why we avoid His presence. Change would be inevitable, and we so often resist change.

"2. Moses was not aware that His face was radiant.... the light of the glory of His Presence shines two ways: It sheds light on the knowledge of God so that we can learn to see Him more clearly, but it also sheds light on us so that we can see our own sin more clearly [perhaps a further explanation of the change we avoid by avoiding His presence].... the closer [I] approach the light, the brighter it shines on [me].... [I] see Him more clearly, and [I] see [myself] more clearly. It is the perfect safeguard against pride.... true intimacy breeds true humility!"

"3. ... your own [family members] may have a harder time dealing with God's glory in you than your unbelieving friends and coworkers.... radiance to one is confrontational to another.

"4. The mark of radiance on Moses finally faded. The greater the gap of time since he had climbed the mountain, the more his radiance dissipated" (164-165).

God's "No" "... is given only so that He can say 'Yes' to something better. God's 'No' is a street sign to direct you to an oncoming 'Yes.'"

"Do more people know what Christians no not believe than what we believe? Does the world view us as a squelched, restricted, mindless group of people who serve a God Who says only 'No'? May this be the generation that seizes every opportunity to attest to a God Who says 'Yes'--'Yes' to salvation, 'Yes' to forgiveness, 'Yes' to abundant life..." (153-154).

God's "activity in the details of [my] life most often displays His glory and beauty" (133).

"... we must recognize situations that demand an extra degree of consecration, preparation, and a protection.... Maintaining purity in ministry is the result of nothing less than deliberate devotion."

John 17:13-21 "The power to live this way was made available the moment Christ prayed that prayer [on my behalf" (141).

I am called to "internal devotion in the midst of external commotion" (142).

Christ became the Door of Escape (147).

"... Holy Spirit's job is to convict [me] of sin, and He is never late for work.... being tempted is not sin; refusing to take the way out is sin. Either way, it is a matter of resistance. We resist either the sin or the Holy Spirit" (148).

"... develop thankfulness toward a keen conviction of sin and pray for it in the lives of your children" (150).

"God the Father invites us to worship, God the Son ignites us to worship, and God the Spirit incites us to worship" (122).

Sarah Lynne Ramsey, Are We There Yet?

"Thank You, Lord, that You want me near You. Draw me close to You. Thank You for making provision for me to come near to You. Thank You that I can enter Your court with thanksgiving in my heart. Thank You for the blood of Jesus that gives me access into Your presence. The blood has redeemed me--I have my sins forgiven. The blood has justified me.... The blood of Jesus cleanses me from all sin as I walk in the light.... Thank You for the Word that washes me. Thank You that as I draw near to You, You draw near to me. I want to come near--Help me, Holy Spirit. Fill this clean vessel with the Spirit of God. Lord, I am asking, and I believe I will receive. Fill me, Jesus. Immerse me in the Holy Spirit. Thank You, Lord!" (148-149).

Beth Moore, A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place

"Prayerlessness is a sin because
(1) it causes us to forfeit some of God's precious gifts to us,
(2) it makes us much weaker when tempted,
(3) it causes us anxiety, and
(4) it closes our ears to God.

True Worship
(1) Fragrant worship is costly. It comes only when what is deep inside is lavished on Christ.
(2) Often, the fragrance of worship cannot be truly released until the vessel is broken.
(3) Fragrant worship is not hindered by others.
(4) Fragrant worship places us in a right relationship with God.... an awareness of Who He is... is indeed a necessity....
(5) We cannot out-sin God's ability to forgive. My past sins have forfeited respect and position. After I have truly repented, past sins cannot annul my right tot he deepest invitations of the Christian experience: to know God and to worship Him.... Lavish worship comes from lavish love....
altar of incense+ privilege and reverence (118-119)

"... the only coals that could heat the incense to make it a fragrant offering were those on which the blood of sacrifice had been spilled.... Fragrant offering was possible only on the basis of sacrifice.... Our spirit[s] give us the capacity to know and experience God" (121).

"Fragrant worship is only that which rises to God after it is poured on Christ" (122).

Sarah Lynne Ramsey, Are We There Yet?

(on the shewbread): "Bread, the staff of life, represents strength. It is at this table eating this bread that we are strengthened in our spiritual live[s].... The Word as food becomes part of an individual when [It} gets into his heart and becomes food for his inner man. He receives spiritual strength for worship and service" (155-156).

"The outer court (the cross) makes me ready for Heaven. In the Holy Place, the Spirit empowers me to live on this earth! (144) In the outer court God was cleansing us. In the Holy Place He is filling the clean vessel. In the outer court we are ready to die; in the Holy Place we are empowered to live and to draw near" (145).

Beth Moore, A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place

altar of incense = holy calling of God's priesthood (114) "The Holy Place invites you to partake of God's presence with all of your senses. "He always lives to intercede for them, Hebrews 7:24-25" (115).

"... the bronze altar was the one on which sacrifice perpetually burned... the golden altar was the one on which incense perpetually burned (116).... The altar of incense speaks to us of intercession" (108).

Natural light in the outer court represents what we perceive with our senses.

Brass in outer court symbolizes sin and judgment. Gold in holy place symbolizes purity/deity. Leave behind natural for supernatural (110-111)

Holy Place = worship and intercession. God calls us to a narrower place (118).

Andrew Murray as quoted in Ramsey: "... most Christians spend their entire lives in the outer court without coming past the veil into the Holy Place, and without knowing the illumination of the Holy Spirit" (107).

Two reason:

(1) tradition of men
(2) fear: Christians are so afraid of being deceived, fear man, fear persecution, that they don't go on.

Jesus is the Lampstand. He immerses us in the Holy Spirit, who gives us light to finish the journey.
