Psalm 27:11, 13

"Teach me Your way, O LORD.... I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD...."

Proverbs 10:16

"The labor of the righteous leads to life."

Beth Moore, Breaking Free

Ten Commandments = plan for staying out of slavery.

God's commands = boundary stones. "Those who live beyond the boundaries will not only return to bondage they will leave a well-trodden path for generations to follow in their footsteps."

- All bondage begins with sin.
- All bondage promotes sin.
- All bondage highly intensifies the pull toward sin.

The cycle of bondage/sin:

move the boundary > follow my own rules > bondage > sin > more bondage > move the boundary, etc . (84)

God's commands... were given, not to enslave me, but to keep me free. His jealousy is for me, not against me. God does not punish children for their parents' sins (85).

Parents/Grandparents must be very careful what they sow because it may bear wind in their lives and a whirlwind in the lives that follow. "[E]nslaved parents teach their children how to live in bondage even with the best of intentions to do otherwise " (86).

Gilda Radner, as quoted in Moore, BF:

"When I was little, my nurse Dibby's cousin had a dog, just a mutt, and the dog was pregnant. I don't know how long dogs are pregnant, but she was due to have her puppies in about a week. She was out in the yard one day and got in the way of the law mower[,] and her two hind legs got cut off. They rushed her to the vet[;] and he said, 'I can sew her up, or you can put her to sleep if you want, but the puppies are okay. She'll be able to deliver the puppies.'

"Dibby's cousin said, 'Keep her alive.'

"So the vet sewed up her backside, and over the next week the dog learned to walk. She didn't spend any time worrying, she just learned to walk by taking two steps in the front and flipping up her backside and then taking two steps and flipping up her backside again. She gave birth to six little puppies, all in perfect health. She nursed them and then weaned them. And when they learned to walk, they all walked like her" (86).

"Even a thin chain can strangle the life out of you."

"God wants whole hearts, not big heads."

Psalm 27:9

"Do not hide Your face from me.... You have been [are] my help; Do not leave me or forsake me, O God...."

Proverbs 10:12

"Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins."

Beth Moore, Breaking Free, Week 4

"Making agreement with the enemy will always cost me more than I want to pay" (76).

The enemy tries to coax me into making peace with my bondage.

I'll never make it to my milestones if I can't make it through my moments.

I Corinthians 10:13

THE way of escape; exit; implies an END.

Cycle of temptation: hard > hardest > easier > under my feet

I will never sustain freedom by doing only what I "ought" to do.

Giving in to temptation = wrongly associating benefit with something that brings me harm (76-77).

"We tend to think of hand-me-down baggage as part of who we are rather than how we're bound" (80).

"The cross of Calvary is enough to set [me] free from every yoke; and [God's] Word is enough to make liberty a practical and perpetual reality, no matter what those before us left as an 'inheritance'" (80).

Have I "sought Jesus as Savior but ignored Him as deliverer?" (80)

"... man of us still carry [chains] in our hands or have them dangling from our necks out of pure habit, lack of awareness, or lack of Biblical knowledge" (81).

My "spiritual lineage can overpower and disable any continuing negative effects of [my] physical lineage" (81).

Although I cannot change the past, God can help me change what I do with it (83).

Praying God's Word

Please don't let me miss the joy and fulfillment of living my life for You. Please don't let my own stubbornness of heart stand in the way of fulfilling Your plan for my life.

"that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God"

Help me to "flesh out" the righteousness of Christ in my life.

You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Please empower me to walk with You faithfully and never to cease pursuing a blameless walk.

Psalm. 26:2

"Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart."

Beth Moore, Praying God's Word

"Searching for perfect, unfailing love in anyone else is not only fruitless, it is miserably disappointing and destructive.

Oswald Chambers as quoted in Moore: "No love of the natural heart is safe unless the human heart has been satisfied by God first" (76).

Psalm 24:3-5

"Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation."

"Please, God of Truth, invoke a blessing over my life and release me from my past."

Psalm 51:1-2

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love; according to Your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight so that You are proved right when You speak justified when You judge."

Beth Moore, Praying God's Word

"One sure sign we are being deceived is that we begin to deceive. To locate satan in any situation, look for the lie (61).

"The most effective way to veer from deception is to walk in truth" (63).

"Father, I want to set my heart on Your laws. Help me to choose the way of truth the rest of my days.... O God, send forth Your light and Your truth to my life. Let them guide me; let them bring me to Your holy mountain, to the place where You dwell."

Beth Moore, Praying God's Word

"Beware of spiritual ambition. We are most useful to God when poured free of self and full of Christ.... Help me to serve You LORD, with great humility and with tears, even when I am severely tested.... help me to clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.... please help me to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and the show rue humility before all men" (57-58).

Proverbs 8:13-14, 17

You hate pride and arrogance....You are understanding, You have strength. Those who seek You diligently shall find You.

John MacArthur, Daily Bible

"The true Peter is seen, not in his denial, but in his repentance" (149).

Psalm 22:19-20

"But You, O LORD, so not be far from me; O My Strength, hasten to help me!"

Nine events in Jesus' life unique to Matthew:
1. Joseph's dream
2. Visit of the wise men
3. Flight into Egypt
4. Herod's murder of the children
5. Judas' repentance
6. Dream of Pilate's wife
7. Other resurrections
8. Bribery of the soldiers
9. Great Commission

Help me get into my spirit the meaning for me that You are the God of Jacob (Chip Ingram 156).

Beth Moore: "Pride is the enemy of genuine ministry (49).

"Pride is NOT the opposite of low self-esteem. Pride is the opposite of humility" (49).

Beth Moore, Praying God's Word

"You have chosen me, God, for the express purpose of knowing and believing You. I can't really begin to know You until I choose to believe You! Make me a person of belief, Lord."

"Believing and speaking the truth of God's Word is like receiving blessed CPR from the Holy Spirit" (31).

Vickie Arruda as quoted in Beth Moore:
"'We act out what we believe. Not what we know'" (32).

John MacArthur, Daily Bible

"The more believers grow in their [experiential?} knowledge of Christ, the more He is revealed in their lives" (143).

Psalm 34:18

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Beth Moore, Praying God's Word

"My Father, You are the LORD my God. I desire to love You, listen to Your voice, and hold fast to You, for You, LORD, are my life" (Deuteronomy 30:20).

"Why does God allow us to spend so much of life in the heat of battle? Because He never meant for us to sip His Spirit like a proper cup of tea. He meant for us to hold our sweating heads over the fountain and lap up His life with unquenchable thirst" (22).

591

I want to be Your woman. I want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Lord, help me not to buy the lie the world hands me. Give me the courage to align my life with You, whatever that means, and to choose to believe what You declare about me rather than what I can see in the light of this dark world. Please show me my purpose in Your plan. Help me cooperate with Your plan so that it can be fulfilled (Chip Ingram I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS 105).

I Cor. 10:3-5

Demolish arguments and pretensions that set themselves up against the knowledge of God. Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.... Choose to think Christ's thoughts about any situation/stronghold rather than satan's or our own.

Help me never to abandon the faith to follow after a lie.

Teach me to pray the mind of Christ. God is far more interested in my getting to know the Deliverer than in my being delivered. God generally shows me His Supremacy or teaches me His Sufficiency (Beth Moore, PRAYING GOD'S WORD 1-14).

Psalm 18:18-19

You, LORD, have been my support. You brought me out into a broad place. You delivered me because You delighted in me.

Psalm 18:28-35

You will enlighten (illumine) my darkness. Your way is perfect; Your Word is proven; You are a shield to all who trust in You. You arm me with strength and make my way perfect. You have given me the shield of Your salvation. Your right hand has held me up.

7 things the LORD hates:
proud look
lying tongue
hands that shed innocent blood
heart that devises wicked plans
feet swift to run to evil
false witness
one who sows discord among brethren

Beth Moore, Breaking Free

LORD, I want liberty to become, not only a present reality, but a permanent one.

You want me to enjoy Your peace. "The key to peace is authority. Peace is the fruit of an obedient life" (68).

to avoid prayer is to avoid peace (69).

prayerless lives = powerless lives

Ephesians 1:17-19

I pray to You, Father of glory, that You may grant me a spirit of wisdom and revelation [insight into mysteries and secrets] in the deep and intimate knowledge of You. Flood the eyes of my heart with light so that I can know and understand the hope to which You have called me and how rich is Your glorious inheritance in the saints. And that I may know and understand what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of Your power in and for me when I believe, as demonstrated in the working of Your mighty strength...."

Prayerlessness is "the most prohibitive obstacle in the road to victory" (70).

Human nature is self-destructive (70).

Isaiah 64:4

No one has seen or heard a God like You Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who earnestly waits for Him."

1. Rules/Regulations replace relationship
2. Microscopes replace mirrors.
Performance replaces passion.
a. Obedience - love = law
b. By faith, make Yourself real to me through Your Word, and lavish me with Your love.
c. Help me to be merciful toward others and avoid analyzing their problems.
d. Help me to withhold nothing from You.
