Francis Chan, Crazy Love
The Christians at Antioch didn't name themselves; they were named "Christians" by others watching their lives (16).

Proverbs 10:23
"... to have skillful and Godly Wisdom is pleasure and relaxation to a man of understanding."
The Biblical definition of strife: controversy, dispute
Proverbs 20:3
"It is an honor for a man to cease from strife and keep aloof from it, but every fool will quarrel.
Proverbs 30:33
"... the forcing of wrath brings forth strife."
Help me to look away from all that will distract me to Jesus, Who is bringing my faith to maturity and perfection (Heb. 12:2).

No More Christian Nice Girl by Paul Coughlin and Jennifer D. Degler
James 3:17
God's wisdom is FIRST pure, THEN peace-loving, etc... a peaceful mind free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts.
SPEAK THE TRUTH IN LOVE AND TRUST GOD WITH THE FALLOUT.
Father, show me the difference between cowardice and a gentle spirit.
How can I, Father, boldly put my future into Your hands? Where am I being timid? love for, or fear of?
Am I planting false niceness weeds in any relationships?
How can I "step up my game" and attract healthier friends?
"Conflict is the price you pay for intimacy."
What steps can I take to express anger assertively and appropriately?
Jesus rarely answered a question directly.
Who are my "balcony women"?
"When someone attempts to correct or rebuke you,... check for the blue lights because there are Self-Appointed Deputies of all That is Wrong in the Throng (SADTWITS).... who will try to pull you over on your journey and give you a citation...." God sends legitimate police officers to deliver respectful rebukes. The pretend police hand over their citations with a side order of shame, disrespect, and condemnation. I can ignore their words, change the subject, or even say, "I do not receive that from you" (192-193).
Job 23:10
"When He has tried me, I shall come forth as refined as gold [pure and luminous]."
2 Corinthians 4:17
"For this slight distress of the passing hour is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!]."

Psalm 65:4
"We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple."
Beth Moore, A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place
"How deep you will allow God to draw you into His dwelling place is a choice only you can make" (217).
"What are the qualifications of those who learn to experience Christ in the holy of holies?... Those who can shake off the grave clothes of the former life and enjoy the freedom of the resurrection.... Those who are willing to have all earthly perspectives stripped away and to allow God to renew their minds to a fresh capacity for understanding" (218).

Beth Moore, A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place
"Can you openly acknowledge God as Master over your entire being? 'May God Himself, the God of Peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ'" (I Thess. 5:23).

"...two common approaches to His unfolding plan: those who want position without preparation and those who refuse to leave the comforts of preparation to take the position" (207).

"Sucker shoots are activity and energy consumers that grow wildly out of control and contribute nothing to God's intended image for us.... wastes of time, with little eternal significance" (188).

"Ark" here, in Hebrew, means chest or coffin. "Why would a coffin serve as the earthly throne of God's glory? Because God's mercy rests only on God's 'death.' The mercy seat was a fitting cover for a coffin. Had there been no plan for death, there would have been no possibility for mercy.... both the first and last objects in the tabernacle pointed to access by death. Whether in God's approach to persons or in our approach to God, there is no approach at all without death..." (178).

acacia wood= Christ's incorruptible humanity; gold = His Deity; "Together they represent the unity of incorruptible man and God." Only Jesus can fill such a position (173).

"'I want to experience every part of You that is possible on this side of Heaven'" (168).
"Preservation [is] the common purpose of the arks in Scripture" [Noah, Moses, the Ark of the Covenant].
"Why did God give directions about the innermost place first? He began with the place of His presence because communication starts with God and ends with people. God always approaches us before we can approach Him" (170).
The Tabernacle in the Wilderness = tangible evidence of intangible truth.... a heavenly pictures on an earthly canvas!" (171).
"Could it be that the true Ark of the Testimony, from which the earthly ark was patterned, was none other than God's throne?"
Ark = "seat of reconciliation" (172).
